UH-Hilo senior Kristen Sawada stayed steady at the start again, carding a 2-over 74 on Tuesday during the opening round of the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in Wahiawa, Oahu.

The Vulcans were last among 14 teams in the Division I field at 40-over 328.

Tied for 13th, Sawada has shot in the 70s in all three tournaments she played in this season. Brigham Young’a Brooklyn Hocker held a two-shot lead after a 68.

UH-Hilo sophomore Andi Igawa opened with an 81 and was tied for 66th place in the 84-player field; freshman Shantel Antonio (86) and junior Alison Tengan (87) were 79th and 82nd, respectively; sophomore Mariah Paiste shit 93 and was 83rd; freshman Kimberly Katayama (95-84th) played as an individual.

Mississippi 294 led by a shot.
